Job overview

We are seeking 2x enthusiastic Patient Systems Officers on a full time, permanent basis. 

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join the Patient Systems Team developing and providing technical support and technical systems administration for TEWV's portfolio of Patient Information Systems including CITO, Electronic Prescribing, Paris and SystmOne.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertaking technical database management, system administration and development of large-scale patient systems.

  • Providing 2nd Line Support to effectively resolve customer issues and problems

  • Planning, delivering and evaluating appropriate systems developments using the Agile methodology.

  • Undertaking System upgrades (including testing, configuration and issue management) both in and out of core hours.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams to understand their needs and how the patient management system can be improved to enhance patient care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent OR Equivalent experiential learning in the field of Information systems design, development and implementation

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing and administering a large information system.
  • Experience of change control processes and producing technical specification options
  • Experience of managing and supporting complex database management systems in busy, confidential settings
  • Experience of a customer led service
  • Experience of NHS IT systems and services
  • Experience of using and writing SQL and other system development languages
  • Experience in managing work packages
Desirable criteria
  • Working in an NHS environment
  • Experience in the management of third party suppliers

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of relational database management systems (RDBS)
  • Up to date practical knowledge of the management of and use of Software application platforms, e.g. SQL, IBM, Oracle
  • Knowledge of one or more computer system(s), hardware or software and procedures to develop reports, documents and spreadsheets
  • Good understanding of system change control processes, upgrades paths and release management
  • Good knowledge of standard PC applications (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of current NHS legislation, policies and procedures relating to data protection
  • Knowledge of clinical processes/terminology
  • Knowledge of the development cycle including requirements gathering, design, build, test, release and sign-off
  • Knowledge of change management principles (ITIL)

  • Ability to work autonomously, under pressure and meet deadlines using excellent organisational planning skills
  • Develop and maintain communication with people about difficult matters and/or in difficult situations
  • Advanced computer literacy and keyboard skills and technical skills in one or more of the following areas: Relational database skills and expertise, Systems programming languages, Advanced SQL,End user interface design (UDFs)
