Regional Maternity Quality Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the South East Region Maternity and Neonatal Team as Regional Maternity Quality Lead. We are looking for a senior, credible, knowledgeable, dynamic, and innovative midwife with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support the Regional Chief Midwife in building and sustaining safe, high quality maternity care across the South East.

 

The post holder will be a key component of the maternity leadership team focussing on the improvement of safety and quality of maternity care across the South East.

 

Key aspects of this role will be to support implementation, delivery, and compliance with the NHSR Maternity Incentive Scheme, the Three-Year Single Delivery Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Services and the Long-Term Plan for trusts and LMNSs in the region. The post holder will possess expert clinical knowledge, senior experience, and authority in order to influence Directors and Heads of Midwifery, Lead Obstetricians and Trust/LMNS Board members.

 

You will be joining an innovative, determined, compassionate and dedicated team, working together to improve maternity and neonatal care and outcomes for patients and staff across the South East region.

The post holder will provide senior specialist midwifery direction and will lead on activities in relation to their specific portfolio - which will include patient safety, assurance, quality improvement, digital improvement, and the use of data to improve safety. The role will play a crucial role in providing clinical advice and support to both providers of maternity services and Local Maternity and Neonatal System Leads within the Integrated Care Boards.

Essential Criteria

  • Professional ‘live’ Midwifery Registration.
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • In depth additional expert knowledge acquired over a significant period of time in the following areas – quality improvement, clinical / and or system transformation and assurance. Subject matter expertise across a number of key areas relating to maternity quality improvement, clinical/ and or system transformation and assurance.
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrable senior management experience.
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement.
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and commissioning organisations.
  • Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals.
  • Demonstrate sound understanding of approaches to both QI methodology’s and application to practice ensuring local ownership.
  • Act as a positive role model in clinical practice working both with and alongside local organisational and system leaders.
  • Provide clinical leadership and advice on maternity quality (safety, outcomes and experience), guidance and support to other directorates and leads working across the geographical footprint.
  • Forge strong opportunities for collaborative working, collective leadership and integration with local systems.
