A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Dietetics Department at Glan Clwyd Hospital as a Band 4 Clinical Dietetic Assistant Practitioner.
Are you an experienced Band 3 Dietetic Assistant who is looking for a new challenge? We have an opportunity for an individual to join our Oncology and Clinical community teams as a Clinical Dietetic Assistant Practitioner. You will work with the Dietitians and Dietetic Assistants to provide a service to the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, and to the Medicines Management Dietitian working in Primary Care in Conwy and Denbighshire.
You will be part of a dynamic Dietetic team at Ysyby Glan Clwyd and part of a new era of development for the Dietetic service as a whole. You will be part of a department of almost fifty Dietitians and Dietetic assistants, supported by an administration team. There are good working partnerships between the teams in Glan Clwyd, and also with other dietetic services across North Wales.

Main duties of the job
This post will give you the opportunity to work with the Dietetic teams to facilitate the development of cutting edge Nutrition and Dietetic services for the Oncology and Community nutrition services. You will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and implementation of a robust quality improvement process for nutrition in the specialist area, under the supervision of the Registered Dietitian.
You will be responsible for the follow up of a cohort of patients, under the supervision of a dietitian, and you will provide supervision to the Band 3 Dietetic Assistants. You will be the primary point of contact for Homeward, the company who supply equipment and feeds to our patients who are enterally fed at home. There will be administration associated with this role, including answering the phone, ringing patients, updating records and management of resources. You will also be responsible for ordering from the Oracle system. Full training for all roles will be provided.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- Good general education
- Relevant higher education qualification with nutrition component e.g. NVQ 4 / foundation degree or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working within a dietetics team as a dietetic assistant
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in the NHS, in hospitals or with community groups
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Self motivated, enthusiastic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a range of care settings
- Willingness to undertake further training as necessary
