Receptionist - St Albans Urgent Care Hub

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Receptionist is the key to enable the Integrated Urgent Care Hub to work with local partners to deliver outstanding clinical services.

What are we looking for?

·        Previous administrative/reception experience.

·        Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders over the telephone.

·        Good IT proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.

·        Initiative and a problem solving approach to issues that arise.

 

Main duties of the job

Ensuring patients are properly received for booked appointments using the Adastra clinical system

 Ensuring any patients selecting to walk in are asked a series of prescribed questions to eliminate any acute presentations

Receiving and booking in referrals from local GP surgeries using Adastra

 Meeting and greeting patients and visitors.

Handling internal and external enquires from all sources, in person, by telephone, email or post in a timely and polite manner

Delivering accurate and complete messages, transferring calls as appropriate to doctors, nurses and admin staff.

Work alongside clinicians in the provision of patient care, responding to requests in a timely manner, whilst ensuring protocols and procedures are followed.

Assisting in signposting and referring of patients within the wider healthcare system

 Act as chaperone when required and oversee clinical examinations.

 Assisting in protocols governing the opening and closing of the premises.

 Adhering to Health & Safety regulations.

 Ensure all departmental required checks are completed

 Cultivate effective communication and team work

 Participate in team meetings where required

 Make effective use of the IT system by ensuring the consistent and accurate entering of data.

Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and be aware of the data protection act

Develops own knowledge and practice to meet objectives/changes in service.

Maintain a clean reception and waiting area
