Job overview

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified, experienced, and self-motivated Lead Voice and Data Engineer to be based at Abergele, Bangor or Wrexham.

 

Working as a key member of the Voice and Data Networking team within the ICT department, the successful candidate will be responsible, in a lead project role, for the development, installation, and on-going operational management and support of the Health Board’s voice and data infrastructure, with a possible concentration on Unified Communications & Voice  technologies

 The BCU network is the largest patient-focussed Health network in Wales, and this is an opportunity for the successful individual to help develop and support a complex, high-end Cisco Enterprise environment, as well as develop the knowledge and expertise of the wider Voice & Data network team

Ideally, the post holder should have a relevant degree/HND and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) qualification, and extensive experience of leading on one or more of the following:

  • Voice and Video Communication Technologies (including Cisco Call Manager IP Telephony and MS Teams)
  • Data Networking Technologies (including switching and routing principles, LAN and WAN)
  • Network Protocols (TCP/IP and Ethernet)
  • Network Security Technologies (including application layer Firewall and Intrusion Prevention Systems)
  • Wireless Networking Technologies

Main duties of the job

Additionally, the post holder should have excellent skills in the following areas:

  • ·       Technical project management,
  • ·       In depth and complex trouble shooting
  • ·       Excellent interpersonal skills

The post holder will be expected to mentor & develop other Voice & Data network team members

The post holder will be required to provide specialist technical 3rd line support to departmental colleagues and 3rd party providers

The post holder may be asked to work across all BCUHB sites and locations, therefore the ability to access transport (public and/or private) to travel off site is essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
