Job overview

Clinical Networks bring stakeholders together – providers, commissioners and patients – to create alignment around programmes of transformational work that will improve care for the health economy.

The networks provide the clinical expertise and leadership to drive commissioning decision making, measure and benchmark quality and outcomes and share best practice and innovation.

In this way, the networks:

  • Improve quality outcomes.

  • Reduce unacceptable variations of care

The Clinical Networks have a national mandate to deliver on key priorities within national policy programmes for transformational change in CVD, Stroke, Diabetes and Respiratory.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Network Manager, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service, supporting managers and staff to manage and lead a portfolio of projects that support the delivery of the Clinical Network programme.

You will:

  • Act as project leader - planning and co-ordinating the delivery of the project, working with others and engaging the constituency of the network as necessary
  • Lead a clinically led quality improvement team that supports and enables the wider delivery of health and care improvement across relevant ICBs and ICSs in line with national priorities
  • Develop project plans for presentation to the network steering group and other forums
  • Produce and / or contribute to products and reports that will influence policy and practice across the clinical area
  • Develop metrics for measuring project success and monitoring progress to ensure delivery
  • Support the sharing of learning across the region with a wide range of stakeholders

Working for our organisation

In April 2023, NHS England, NHS Digital, and Health Education England merged to create a new, single organisation to lead the NHS in England. This new NHS England is designed to create a simpler, smaller, high performing, organisation that leads the NHS more effectively and is a better place to work. Speaking with one voice to the service.

The new NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
  • Delivering value for money.
