Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Support Officer to join the dynamic Digital Transformation Team in NHS England South West. The post holder will lead the development and implementation of a consistent approach to project and programme tracking and reporting across the digital transformation portfolio of initiatives. Together with the Project Support Officer, the post holder will support, facilitate and monitor programme and project progress, while systematically capturing and logging knowledge and lessons learned.

 

The Senior Project Support Officer will coordinate activities across complex regional initiatives, ensuring resource is allocated effectively, including managing the workload of the Project Support Officer. Fostering a culture of learning the post holder will seek to continuously improve, develop and upskill themself and others, including testing and learning different approaches to meet the needs of a fast-paced, agile programme and project environment.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Project Support Officer with:

  •        A project management qualification and extensive experience in supporting projects and/ or programmes;
  •        Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills;
  •        A keen interest in the opportunities that digital technologies can offer the health and care system;
  •        An ability to build positive relationships and to manage stakeholders effectively;
  •        A high level of attention to detail; and,
  •        An ability to work at a fast pace, with accuracy, including capturing ‘live’ information.

 

Some of the key qualities required are as follows:

  •        Assertive, diplomatic and confident in the informal management of people, including managing ‘upwards’, to ensure a consistent approach to project support across the digital transformation portfolio;
  •        Appreciation of complexity and proactive in managing interdependencies, issues and risks; and,
  •        A team player, who is supportive of a continuous learning and improvement culture, with a willingness to foster ‘psychological safety’ enabling individuals and teams to share, and learn from, mistakes.
