Closing Date:  24th July 2024

Assessment Date:   21st August 2024

Interview Date:  9th September 2024

Main duties of the job

The service uniquely offers a job planned weekly participation in integrated spinal multidisciplinary meetings constituting pain physicians, spinal surgeons, musculoskeletal radiologists, extended scope physiotherapists and other allied health professionals in addition to a weekly complex pain MDT comprising pain physicians, specialist pain nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical psychologist, pain administrator and other team members that encompasses clinical triage and service development discussions. In addition, there is an opportunity to actively participate in departmental educational, audit and clinical governance framework.

The trust is very actively focussed on supporting medical education and training with weekly grand rounds and participation in regional education networks. We are looking to recruit enterprising and forward-thinking applicants to support the routine services and look at the development of subspecialty pain areas such as cancer pain, pelvic pain and community pain.

Successful candidate will participate in the anaesthetic 1 in 20 on call rota at the Luton site. Pain and anaesthetic sub-special interest will be supported with mutual agreement with clinical lead in integrated pain service and the clinical director in anaesthesia, respectively.

Working for our organisation

Our Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

We have state-of-the art facilities placing us at the heart of cutting edge health care. The Trust continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.

As part of our continued response to COVID19 the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 (“the 2014 Regulations”) was updated and approved by Parliament. This meant that full COVID19 vaccination would become a condition of employment in all NHS roles which have face-to-face contact with patients and service users from 1 April 2022 unless exempt.

The Government subsequently announced that, given the changes to the Omicron variant, they believe it is no longer proportionate to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for NHS staff. The Government’s decision is subject to Parliamentary process. This will require further consultation and a Parliamentary vote to be passed into legislation.

As this role is within scope of the current legislation COVID19 vaccination status will remain part of our routine Occupational Health check.

Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and your patients from the virus. If you’re still unsure, you can find lots of information

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The appointments will be subject to full Occupational Health Clearance and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for the successful candidates prior to commencement.

The appointee will have Full UK MedicalDental registration  at time of application.

Please note that vacancies may close prior to the advertised closing date when sufficient number of applications have been received. Please ensure that you make your application as soon as possible.

If you have not received correspondence inviting you for interview within 28 days of the closing date, you should assume that your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion.
