Oncology and Aseptic Supply Unit Pharmacist

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join our friendly and hardworking team dedicated to delivering a high quality oncology/haematology pharmacy service for our cancer patients. 

You will also be involved in aseptic product provision within the Trust including parenteral nutrition for adult and neonatal patients and monoclonal antibody infusions for the Day Treatment Unit.

Part of the role also includes supporting pharmacy services for oncology clinical trials.  

This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain valuable skills and knowledge in these specialist areas.

Main duties of the job

To deliver clinical services to patients in the Macmillan Cancer unit through involvement in multidisciplinary teams, development of protocols, medication counselling and symptom control management ensuring the patient is at the centre of your practice.

To participate in clinical verification of chemotherapy prescriptions and final checking of aseptic products.

To provide clinical supervision and facilitate the on-going competency training of rotational pharmacists and trainee pharmacists within the Aseptic Supply Unit.

To be involved in the Aseptic Supply Unit clinical governance and risk minimisation activities.

To support pharmacy services for oncology clinical trials within the Trust and ensure safe dispensing and checking practices of clinical trials.

  • Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • GCP certificate
  • BOPA SACT Verification Passport accreditation

Experience
