Hours 30-37.5 hrs per week working 5 days from 08.30 - 17.00 between Monday - Friday

Berkshire Community Dental Service is looking to recruit a part/full time senior dental nurse, working 4/5 days a week, with a responsibility for being the decontamination and compliance lead for the service.  This role will be in addition to your clinical duties, spending one day a week focusing on thisYou will be work closely with and be supported by the senior dental officers for decontamination and medical devices. 

The senior dental nurse will join an enthusiastic and skilled workforce with a great team spiritThe service has 7 clinics ranging from Thatcham to Langley and over 40 members of staffThe service treats patients with additional needs including children, people with learning and physical disabilities and the elderly.   

Your base will be decided upon appointment, but you will also work at other clinics, the hospitals where we undertake general anaesthetic sessions and in the domiciliary settingIt is therefore essential that you can drive, have a UK driving licence and a car for travel between clinics and hospitals.   

 

Main duties of the job

  • Organising and scheduling of equipment maintenance  

  • Working towards the service achieving best practice 

  • Ensuring relevant processes and policies are up to date  

  • Maintaining an inventory of all equipment 

  • Assisting with CQC compliance  

  • Training and supporting staff with infection prevention and control matters 

  • Conducting and reviewing audits 

  • Maintain COSHH records

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The “must haves” for this role: 

  • GDC Registration.  

  • National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare. 

  • Previous experience as a Dental nurse within Berkshire Community Dental service. 

  • Additional/higher level decontamination and/or compliance training.  

  • Have a car and driving licence. 

  • Good communication skills. 

  • A team player.  

  • Experience with dental software and general IT skills. 

  • Ability to work outside normal working hours (8.30 – 17.00) given sufficient notice

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • National Certificate for Dental Nurses or NVQ Level 3 in Oral Healthcare
  • Registered with the General Dental Council

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of training in dental sedation
  • Additional evidence of higher level training in dental decontamination and/or compliance training

Previous Experience

Essential criteria
  • To have worked as part of a dental team, e.g. general practice, hospital, other CDS providing chair side duties
  • Experience working with children, the elderly, medically compromised patients and learning disabilities.
  • Experience in assisting clinicians when treating patients under sedation and general anaesthesia
  • Experience in stock control and management of Controlled Drugs
