Job overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Mental Health Practitioner to join the Berkshire CAMHS Anxiety Disorders Treatment Team (ADTT).
BHFT CAMHS ADTT members are passionate about using individualised and formulation-led evidence-based approaches to help children, young people and families. We provide specialist assessments and treatment for children and young people suffering with anxiety disorders, OCD and Tic Disorders across Berkshire. The ADTT team prides itself on our inclusive practice, particularly our work with neurodivergent families. Our team has good research links and is pleased to offer training placements to Trainee Clinical Psychologists, Trainee CBT Therapists and Specialist Psychiatry registrars. As well as a culture of adult learning, we also have a compassionate ethos within the team which permeates throughout our work and which is remarked upon by all clinicians who work with us.
The post holder will provide high quality safe, effective, efficient, and timely individual and group treatments for young people with anxiety disorders, OCD and Tic disorders, as well as supporting young people who are waiting for treatment to start.
We are able to be flexible with this role and are open to considering either full or part time hours for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job

Develop personalised treatment plans in collaboration with child and family, to support recovery and improve quality of life.

Deliver evidence based therapeutic individual and group interventions using a range of psychological techniques and modalities.

Provide support to young people and families who are waiting for treatment to start, including risk support

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team clinicians and multi-agency representatives to ensure the delivery of integrated and holistic client care.

Actively engage in the quality improvement and service development of CAMHS services

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The “must haves” for this role:
1. Qualified psychotherapist, e.g. mental health nurse, social worker, Occupational Therapist, CBT therapist
2. Registered with HCPC or BABCP
3. Evidence of interest in working therapeutically with children, young people and families

Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Recognised mental health qualification or recognised equivalent qualification, e.g Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC), or :
- Occupational Therapy degree level qualification
- Registered Social Worker with relevant social work qualification,
- Other Health professional with relevant post graduate qualification.
- Registered and accredited with Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) or with BABCP as appropriate
Desirable criteria
- Additional training/ accreditations (or working towards these) to reflect post qualification interest/ specialism (e.g., BABCP.
- Completed the relevant training and be registered as an NMP (Non-Medical Prescriber).
Continuous Professional Development

- Evidence of training and/or interest and knowledge in therapeutic approaches relevant to children and young people with anxiety disorders, OCD and Tic disorders
- Commitment to continuing professional development as recommended by the relevant accrediting body
Experience

- Experience of working in evidence-based ways in child mental health settings (and their carers/families)
- Experience of dealing with highly distressing or emotional circumstances, such as serious mental illness, child and sexual abuse, exploitation, and complex family dynamics
- Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment
- Experience of working with, and addressing issues of diversity, including experience of working with diversity, multiculturalism, and equality of access to service.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, technical and/or sensitive information to service users, their carers/families and other professional colleagues, both within and outside the NHS
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to support, influence and engage with clinicians, stakeholders and service users to create change and improvement
- Competent IT skills and the ability to navigate various systems and software packages (such as RiO, Outlook, databases, MS office/Teams, One Consultation and the internet).
