Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and personable senior pharmacy assistant to join our pharmacy team.
We are based at Prospect Park Hospital in Tilehurst, Reading and you will work with a team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and our Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists.
Pharmacy opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
You should have experience of working in a pharmacy environment and completed your NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services or be willing to undertake and complete this award whilst in post.
You will assist in procuring the supply of medicines for our patients / service users and complete essential tasks in stock management and distribution services for ensuring the supply of medicines reaches all the wards and departments for our services across Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
You will have excellent communication skills, be personable, approachable and enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
- Completing ward stock top-ups for BHFT wards and departments throughout Berkshire
- Procuring medicines, medical gases and nonmedicinal supplies from suppliers and wholesalers and associated booking in and storage of medicines
- Completing pharmacy financial processes
- Ordering and supplying FP10HPs to prescribers within BHFT.
- Problem solving
- Distribution of medicines throughout Berkshire

Essential criteria
- Good standard of education reflected by 4 GCSE’s grade A* - C or 9-4 including English Language and Maths or equivalent qualifications
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services
Previous Experience

- Experience of working in a team environment
