Job overview
1. Support the Department Sister/ Charge Nurse in leading the team to deliver the
objectives of the clinical area. In the absence of the Department Sister/ Charge Nurse,
be responsible for ensuring that all patients in the given clinical area receive safe,
competent nursing care. Lead the team for which they are responsible for, working
flexibly to support other/ more junior colleagues on a day-to-day basis.
2. Demonstrate excellent personal communication. Establish and maintain effective twoway communication channels with individuals and groups. Demonstrate appropriate
assertiveness and ability to challenge others when the rights of patients and others
may be infringed.
3. Actively promote excellent team working and interdisciplinary relationships.
4. Allocate work and assess performance of the team members objectively against set
criteria/ competencies. Work with Department Manager to ensure that individual
performance review and personal development plans are completed for staff members.
Assist with action plans arising from these appraisals as necessary. Provide clear
feedback to team members in a way that is conducive to maintaining and improving
performance.
5. Assist the Ward/ Department managers in ensuring high standards of cleanliness in the
clinical area and a well maintained ward / department environment.
6. Promote interdisciplinary working with outcomes aimed at the best interest of patients

The IR Team is looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic senior nurse to join the department. The applicant must be a registered nurse with significant experience in any of the following clinical areas Angiography, CT, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Scrubbing, and Recovery.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate commitment to their own personal development and show a keen interest in the future development of the nursing profession within interventional radiology.
As a senior nurse you will work collaboratively with Radiologists, Radiographers, and Anaesthetists ensuring optimum care is provided across all services. You will positively impact on the experience of patients and carers by providing a high standard of clinical care. We are also looking for a forward thinking, organised individual with excellent communication skills and a positive approach to change.

The department offers an out of hours on call service, which all nurses are required to be part of. Additionally, you will be expected to take on the role of shift coordinator on a day to day basis, which is a key element of the senior nurse role and therefore the applicant must be in possession of good clinical leadership skills and is able to act as a role model who will provide direction and support to junior staff.
An informal visit to the department is highly recommended, to engage in this exciting area of nursing. The I.R. department operates Monday to Friday 08.00 to 18.00 (no bank holidays)..
