Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist -Wheelchair Service - Part time
We are delighted to be able to advertise for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our busy team in the West Berkshire Wheelchair Service.
The West Berkshire Specialist Wheelchair Service provides specialised seating for patients with postural needs and mobility within the home. Patients range from child to adult and the service covers West Berkshire. All patients have a long-term mobility related condition and the majority have highly complex clinical needs.

Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership to RBFT staff working in the Wheelchair Service at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
· To deputise for the Wheelchair Service Team Lead as appropriate, assuming responsibility for the operational management of RBFT staff working in the Wheelchair Service at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, as required.
· To provide highly specialised Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills, particularly in paediatrics. Be responsible for the assessment and management of your own complex clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner. This involved assessment of client’s mobility and postural needs and provision and setup of equipment
· To take the lead in triaging paediatric referrals to the Wheelchair Service
· To ensure a high quality, effective and efficient Occupational Therapy service, contributing to planning and policy development in the Wheelchair Service.
· To support the Team Lead and OT Professional Lead in the development of the service through clinical initiatives, modernisation projects and quality initiatives.
· To deputise for the Team Lead on agreed clinical and service development groups and boards, as required.
· To provide expert training, advice and clinical education to service providers, service users and service commissioners.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post- graduate clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist
- Clinical Leadership experience at a senior level
- Demonstrable experience of delivering a service based on the needs of the patient
Desirable criteria
- Experience working with a paediatric client base
- Wheelchair clinic experience
- Experience of proactively engaging with service users and commissioners
Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy BSc / MSc or equivalent experience
- HCPC Registration
- Extensive post-graduate training
- Comprehensive evidence of evidenced based approach to the management of conditions
Desirable criteria
- Clinical Leadership Training or equivalent

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
