The Royal Berkshire Hospital has a multi-professional palliative care team and the Senior Occupational Therapist has a pivotal role within the team. You will be working with Consultants, nurses, another Occupational Therapist, a Counsellor and our specialist administrators.

We work across all adult inpatient areas in the hospital.

Person specification

Knowledge and skills

Essential criteria
  • To have a degree or other recognised qualification in occupational therapy
  • HPC Registered
  • Post graduate specialist experience in palliative care as demonstrated by ongoing CPD
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of conditions, including advanced clinical reasoning and treatment skills
  • Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff
  • Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its implications for the occupational therapy service and palliative care
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level qualification in palliative care
  • Experience of a range of health settings

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to process and share complex information
  • Demonstrates professional autonomy
  • Able to pass on specialist skills/knowledge to others within formal and informal settings, including multidisciplinary groups
Desirable criteria
  • Training and Presentation skills
