The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust (RBFT) and the University of Reading (UoR) are working in a collaborative partnership. The aims of this partnership are to improve patient care and clinical expertise by developing new teaching and learning provision, through research and its translation into clinical practice, by sharing facilities and by jointly exploiting commercial opportunities.
In 2021, we formalised out relationship through the formation of a Strategic Partnership Board, co-chaired by the Universities VC and the Trust’s CEO under which sits the Health Innovation Partnership. Our vision for the partnership is to build an environment and culture which fosters excellence in education, research and innovation in a sustainable, supportive and inclusive community benefiting the health of the people of Berkshire and beyond.
Our work stream pillars sit on our agreed partnership values, which resonate with both organisations’ values:
- Working together – creating a culture for partnership and promoting collaboration
- Commitment to excellence – recognising and supporting excellence in healthcare
- People-driven – taking a people-centric approach, empowering patients to become active participants in their care
- Nurturing innovation – creating an environment that values creativity, and delivers change
- Future focused/sustainable – implementing changes to ensure the healthcare system is fit for the future
