Job overview

Solution Designer Pathology IT

To work closely with project teams on the design, scale, scope and impact of new projects. To assess the impact on the laboratories across ALL BSPS sites and to work with the EPR teams on changes required.

Main duties of the job

Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) is an NHS contractual joint venture between the following NHS Foundation Trusts:

  • Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals
  • Frimley Health (inc. Wexham Park)
  • Royal Berkshire
  • Royal Surrey
  • Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH)

Each hospital benefits from a complete pathology service, delivered through a shared service model across the network for both acute and primary care patients.

The post-holder requires significant technical knowledge and experience of pathology and clinical systems, including those used by GPs, to lead, research, design and integrate technologies and service architectures to implement pathology technologies that align with BSPS strategic objectives.

Working for our organisation

The Pathology IT department is a highly professional and dedicated team with a strong emphasis on ongoing training and career development. We need a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to help us support our clinical colleagues with their IT requirements. We believe in investing in our staff and understand that staff satisfaction is inextricably linked to patient satisfaction. We also believe that it is important that we recruit staff who subscribe to our values as they are at the heart of everything we do. The values reflect the commitment we make to the people who use our services and to each other.

As the Trusts are committed to 24/7 working, within Pathology IT we also support the labs 24/7. This is covered from home on a rostered basis, however on occasion, there may be a requirement to be on site.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate an understanding of IT System administration with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team or to join the project teams when required.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as dealing with a wide range of clinical staff and associated professionals is a significant aspect of this role.

The successful candidate will be expected to support the Pathology IT Senior team and other colleagues as we move forward in the growth of BSPS.
