Job overview

Due to an expending portfolio an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic motivated person to join the Urgent Care Research Team (ED, ICU, Anaesthetics and other Acute Care Areas). This is a perfect opportunity for  you to experience research at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in this part time secondment.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint a caring, highly motivated, forward thinking and enthusiastic nurse to help lead and drive research across the ED, ICU and acute care areas. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team and will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of NIHR Portfolio studies. These include all aspects of patient identification, recruitment and follow up of participants.

 

Research experience would be advantageous, but all necessary training and support will be provided. The post will provide the unique opportunity of working across a number of acute specialities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Be a registered nurse with a degree or equivalent professional qualification, ideally with a relevant post registration qualification in ICU,HDU or ED.
  • Have recent and relevant experience within ED , ICU or Acute Medicine.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Have effective time management and the ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Be able to integrate with a number of teams in order to achieve set objectives
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access etc)
  • Be willing to work flexibly in terms of hours and duties to meet service needs (including unsocial hours / weekends where required).
  • Practice and maintain your clinical skills and competence

Education/ Qualifications/ Training:

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
  • ENB 100 or equivalent Critical Care Course
  • Evidence of Leadership, management and speciality development
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of degree level study/working towards a degree
  • Planning and Managing Clinical Trials Module
  • NVQ assessor

Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 2 year post registration experience in Critical Care Research
  • Minimum 1 year post Critical Care course experience in specialty area
  • Experience in mentoring/ facilitation/ teaching/ assessing/ coaching
  • Experience of leadership/ management and speciality development.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of involvement in successful change management
