Job overview

Band 7 Clinical Lead Practitioner (Maternity & Gynae Theatres)

Manage people and financial resources to ensure the effective operation of the team for which they are responsible. Ensure applicable skill-mix and appropriate caseload management at all times.

Allocate work and assess performance of the team members objectively against set criteria/competencies. Be responsible for ensuring individual performance review and personal development plans are completed for self and team members. Provide clear feedback to team in a way that is conductive to maintaining and improving performance. Work closely with Employee relations as appropriate.

Establish and maintain good two-way communication channels with Lead nurse, team members and all relevant stakeholders.

Be responsible for standard of nursing care delivered in work area. Display evidence that staff provide holistic, evidence-based, patient-centred care.

Responsible for the standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well maintained environment.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside a Senior Band 7 you will be expected to work within your budget, maintaining safe staffing levels and skill mix, whilst providing excellent care for our patients. 

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate exemplary leadership skill, leading the team effectively and be visionary in their approach.

There is great emphasis on theatre efficiency and the successful candidate would be expected to maintain a presence in the clinical environment, working with team leaders to ensure the operating lists run smoothly and efficiently, as well as the managerial aspects of the role. 

The successful candidate will need to exhibit high standards of practice and performance and be committed to ensuring compliance.  They will need to demonstrate exceptional communication skills throughout the multi-disciplinary team and be confident in decision making.
