Extended Practice Reporting Sonographer – General Ultrasound

Due to ongoing songrapher development, there is an opportunity to join our sonographer team.  

As part of this role, sonographers must display extended skills (please see the job description for additional information) and be committed to providing high quality, patient focused care.  

The department has a strong commitment to the development of staff as well as a focus on staff health and well-being.  

We are a progressive teaching department for sonographers and have an established training program.  We are proud to have a practice education sonographer to support and develop staff within the department .  We have recently introduced a competency based preceptorship for Band 7 to 8A.  

We have established links to universities and actively encourage CPD and role extension, with support available to pursue academic courses and develop your career within a supportive and friendly environment. Our department offers excellent training and development opportunities with funding available for a variety of courses.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

Appointment into an 8A sonographer role.  The role is for an extended scope sonographer who is able to demonstrate a high level of extended scanning skills.  

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work both autonomously and within multi-disciplinary teams, flexibility to work at satellite spoke sites, and ability to participate in the weekend scanning service at Royal Berkshire Hospital.  

We  have scanning facilities across all RBFT sites and an active equipment replacement program.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

The postholder will function as an effective member of the Ultrasound team, providing a high quality, comprehensive and efficient Ultrasound service to patients and referring clinicians; to include the timely issue of diagnostic reports, based on Ultrasound findings

The postholder will undertake all aspects of work in the Ultrasound Department, as appropriate to grade, including the supervision and mentoring of more junior staff.

The postholder will exercise autonomy within professional and managerial boundaries.

Provide support and guidance to other members of the Sonography/Radiology team

Act as an assessor for Sonographers going through the Developmental Passport Framework

Provide leadership within the department, as appropriate to banding
