Band 7 Clinical Lead Practitioner - Urology Theatres
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to lead our highly graded Urology Operating theatre team at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The team was one of the first to pioneer the robotic assisted surgery in 2007 and was awarded a Royal Berkshire Staff Excellence Award in 2020 for operational excellence.
We are looking for innovative and motivated clinical lead practitioner with a passion for urology surgery, who also pose excellent leadership qualities to embrace our Trust CARE values, being an advocate for delivering outstanding care to our patients whilst meeting the priorities of both our patients and staff.
You will need to be an inspirational leader who has the passion to deliver excellence in all aspects of nursing care, and will need to be able to demonstrate excellent transformational skills in order to drive improvements in both practice and learning.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the job roles includes:
1/ Manage people and financial resources to ensure the effective operation of the team for which they are responsible. Ensure effective skill-mix and appropriate caseload management at all times.
2/ Allocate work and assess performance of the team members objectively against set criteria/competencies. Be responsible for ensuring individual performance review and personal development plans are completed for self and team members. Provide clear feedback to team in a way that is conductive to maintaining and improving performance. Work closely with Employee relations as appropriate.
3/ Establish and maintain effective two-way communication channels with Lead nurse, team members and all relevant stakeholders.
4/ Be responsible for standard of nursing care delivered in work area. Display evidence that staff provide holistic, evidence-based, patient-centred care.
5/ Responsible for the standards of cleanliness in the clinical area and for a well maintained environment.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse/ Registered Operating Department Practitioner
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Evidence of Band 6 development programme completion or equivalent
- Recognised mentorship qualification/training
- Evidence of further clinical and management education
- Education to degree level
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial clinical scrub and/or anaesthetic experience including emergency pathway
- Extensive knowledge of major surgery, recovery and/or anaesthetics
- Participation in change management
- Ability to facilitate the management of change
- Experience in leading in clinical audit and delivery of outcomes
- Experience of supporting a broad range of students within theatres to meet their learning needs
