Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking for a change? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our expanding team.
At Wokingham Hospital, we have two wards within our Inpatient Unit, caring for adults of any age with a wide mix of health care needs. We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team and provide rehabilitation and discharge planning for our patients, who’s needs range from post-fall recovery to stroke rehabilitation to advancing dementia and everything in between.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated member of staff with effective communication skills, a flexible approach and an ability to work under pressure, both as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team and independently.
This role would be working full time (part time considered) as part of the therapy team and the wider MDT, both on and off site, liaising with ward and Social Services colleagues regularly and effectively.
The unit is based in Wokingham close to shops and major commuting routes, and Wokingham Community Hospital staff are eligible for ‘fringe London weighting’ under agenda for change, which equates to an additional 5% of your basic NHS salary, and free staff parking on our hospital site.
Main duties of the job

To be responsible for a highly complex caseload of patients to help improve their confidence in activities of daily living and enable the patients to return to their own homes if appropriate.

To provide highly skilled and specialist assessments of occupational performance. Plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based client centred intervention, maintaining the associated records in compliance with the standards from the Royal College of Occupational Therapy and the Trust.

To contribute to the provision of an efficient, effective and patient focused Occupational Therapy Service at Wokingham Hospital.

To identify service developments & needs, to contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of the service, ad have responsibility for defined projects.

Education/Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Diploma/ Degree in Occupational therapy
- Registered with the HPC
Continuous Professional Development:
Essential criteria
- Evidence of training in rehabilitation of older people.
- Training in the equipment needs of older people.
- Understanding of the models used in Occupational Therapy
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Experience of liaising with social Care in the UK
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a rehabilitation or intermediate care setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
