An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Specialist Neuro-Rehab Occupational Therapist team on the Inpatient Neuro Rehabilitation Unit. We are looking for enthusiastic, client centred occupational therapist that enjoys working within interdisciplinary teams and passionate in supporting clients in achieving their goals. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the OT team.

The candidate will require experience in rehabilitation of patients with complex neurological disability This is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic, pro-active clinician to be part of our team. The team comprises of administrative staff, Occupational Therapist physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, speech & language therapists, nurses and skilled support staff. You will be working as part of a large and supportive therapy team with excellent training and development opportunities as well as a robust supervision and appraisal system. There are well-established team meetings and CPD is well supported. You will be encouraged to take part in service development projects as appropriate.

You will have keyworker responsibility for some of the patients, therefore excellent communication skills and flexibility is essential. You will line manage and provide supervision to more junior Occupational Therapists, students and support staff/assistants.

It is essential that you have current HPC registration and recognised qualifications as an Occupational Therapist. Experience will include working in multi-professional teams and across a range of different agencies to achieve the optimum outcome for service users.

  • Registered with HCPC Graduate /Degree in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post graduate training relevant to occupational therapy and in neuro-rehabilitation
  • Evidence of relevant CPD

Experience

  • Varied comprehensive rotations at junior level and significant post graduate experience to assess and treat patients with complex disability / multiple pathologies
  • Knowledge and experience of acute and community trust settings
  • Experience of managing complex neuro disability
  • Experience of using audit tools, outcome measures and clinical standards
  • Experience of postural and seating assessments and wheelchair prescription
  • Experience of managing tone/spasticity

  • Ability to communicate with all levels effectively and be able to vary the approach according to need/situation.
  • Able to advise and support others in the management of patients with complex needs e.g. cognitive, behavioural, physical and social
  • Able to reflect and critically appraise own performance.
  • Awareness of need for flexibility when managing change and difficult situations.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of clinical governance, standard setting and audit processes
