There are two Band C posts available. One full time and one 0.8 WTE. There will be a requirement for the post holders to work across Community sites and at Birmingham Dental Hospital
We are seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious specialist in paediatric dentistry to join the Paediatric Dentistry Team in Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
This is a Consultant lead specialist service providing high quality dentistry to anxious children and children with special needs, in multiple sites across Birmingham, Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley. The service also provides mobile dental services at selected schools. General anaesthetic care is provided at Walsall Manor and Sandwell General Hospital and the dental hospital.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality dental treatment for children with a wide range of high treatment needs including those who have special needs and are unable to access care in the General Dental Service
To carry out the full range of clinical procedures, including inhalation sedation and IV sedation if competent to do so.
To support the undergraduate and post graduate teaching within BCHC.
The post holder will be required to move between different sites and settings within BCHC and work in a mobile dental unit.

Person specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- BDS or equivalent
- Vocational training or equivalent if non UK graduate
- Eligibility for inclusion on NHS Dental Performer List
- On the GDC Specialist list
- Possession of a registrable postgraduate qualification
- Evidence of relevant CPD being undertaken regularly
- On the specialist list in Paediatric Dentistry (or within final year of completion of specialist training)
- Experience of treating children with additional care needs
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of providing oral healthcare/dental treatment under conscious sedation and General Anesthesia as required
- Experience of treating children with additional care needs
- Experience of working within primary care
- Familiarity with GDC regulations
- Evidence of leadership, service development and project management
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates
- Experience of presenting to groups
- Experience of working in a secondary care setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of chairing meetings
- Experience of working in a tertiary care setting
- Experience of providing postgraduate teaching

- Competent and experienced clinical practitioner with the ability to work without supervision
