An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, HCPC registered Physiotherapist with Amputee Rehabilitation experience or who would like to gain experience within this specialist field, to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality assessments and interventions.

The job role is to provide physiotherapy input to the Regional Prosthetic Service, alongside Band 7 Physiotherapists. To participate in the inter-disciplinary assessment process, negotiated client-centred goal settings and completion of outcome measurements for amputees. To be responsible for managing a caseload of amputee patients, both non-limb wearers and prosthetic users and to provide physiotherapy treatments, including early walking aids and gait training techniques. To communicate with physiotherapy departments locally and regionally to relay patient-related information concerning their physiotherapy requirements.

You will need to have a minimum of 3 years clinical experience with some experience within amputee rehabilitation (Adults and preferred experience with Paediatrics) and some experience of assessing complex disability.
To enable continuity of service provision, we are looking for someone to work five days a week to provide input to Prosthetic and Amputee Rehabilitation within our Tertiary Centre at West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre in Birmingham.
The West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre in Birmingham provides a specialist prosthetic regional service across the whole West Midlands Region. The prosthetic clinics are supported by a wide range of specialist rehabilitation services based within the Centre, including: Access to Communication and Technology, Posture and Mobility, Wheelchair Services, Clinical Measurements Laboratory, Orthotic Services, Counselling and Psychology.

You must have good organisational skills including prioritisation of workload and time management skills and be able to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date clinical trends and practices including evidence based ones
You must be able to communicate effectively with patients /carers /colleagues and other agencies and be able to generate written communication, which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible.

- • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
- • Evidence of relevant CPD

- • Proven ability to assess and treat patients with physical conditions, using clinical reasoning skills
- • Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and application of up to date clinical trends and practices including evidence based ones in the assessment and treatment of amputee patients
- • Knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation process

- • Supervisory experience/staff students
- • Basic skills in digital photography and use of associated computer software
- Understanding of community support agencies and other professions, and ability to work and liaise with them.
