Are you interested in developing your skills working in various settings including working with clients following stroke and other acquired brain injuries, general and intermediate care rehabilitation? We are looking for an enthusiastic, client-centred Physiotherapist that enjoys working within interdisciplinary teams and passionate in supporting clients in achieving their goals.

This is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic, pro-active clinician to be part of our team. This post offers an exciting challenge to work with a complex clinical caseload of general medical conditions of older people and complex neurological conditions, and focuses on client-centred practice within a holistic approach. You will provide assessment and treatment for clients within individual and group sessions, good communication skills are essential.  You will receive regular supervision, training and appraisal to support your development needs.

Main duties of the job

 

This post will comprise of 6 month rotations within the inpatient therapy services, each  providing the opportunity to develop clinical skills in a supportive environment.  The rotations include:


Ward 6, Moseley Hall Hospital - Sub-acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
Ward 12, West Heath Hospital - Sub-acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
Ward 8, Moseley Hall Hospital – Inpatient Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation Unit.
Ward 9, Moseley Hall Hospital - Neurological Rehabilitation Unit
Anne Marie Howes - Inpatient Intermediate Care Unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the clinical diagnosis, assessment and ongoing physiotherapeutic management of In-Patients. Conditions may include complex permanent disabilities, multiple pathologies, life-limiting conditions and challenging and unpredictable behaviours.
  • To provide Physiotherapy intervention on the bedded units/gym settings and to undertake assessments of patients in their own homes prior to discharge.
  • To work with and provide support to more junior colleagues, Physiotherapy students on placement and work experience students.
  • To act as a source of advice and information for colleagues of all disciplines, patients and their carers/relatives.
  • To promote and maintain the ethos of Physiotherapy in all clinical and professional activities.
  • Ability to work flexibly across a 7 day working pattern and to provide support within all In-Patient Units across the Trust as and when required.

  • HCPC Registration
  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Practice Placement Educator

  • Ability to manually handle clients and equipment and to attain positioning necessary to perform safe and effective clinical interventions
