Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen on the female acute inpatient ward Lavender at the Zinnia Centre, for a motivated, compassionate and adaptive individual to take on this unique role and make it their own!
Our activity worker has a key role in ensuring we are offering a therapeutic and meaningful timetable of varied activities aimed at enhancing recovery from acute episodes of mental illness. It is a unique opportunity to build your confidence and expand your skill set in engagement, therapeutic approaches and a wide range of interventions. You will be supported by our specialist integrated Nursing and Occupational Therapy Team to deliver the above and develop the role and yourself in the process.
Previous candidates who were very successful in the role had skills and training in counselling, psychology and creative pursuits, (to name just a few!), therefore we are keen to hear from candidates who have similar varied skills and interests and will be able to use these creatively in the role.
Main duties of the job
Our unit is often a fast paced and fluid environment and a diverse a workplace setting. As female acute inpatient Ward we work collaboratively with our community counterparts to provide high quality care for females with often complex severe and enduring mental illness. You will be working with a diverse and wide ranging spectrum of clinical presentation and mental ill health and will become skilled in adapting your approach to meet individual need.
You will work within a specialist multi-disciplinary team, delivering high quality, intensive care to patients experiencing acute and chronic mental illness. Working on Lavender, you will be joining an experienced team of mental health professionals from a variety of professional backgrounds. There is a wide remit for the Activity worker’s role within the ward which requires networking and collaborating with numerous internal and external stakeholders.
It’s important that you have an understanding of multidisciplinary services and the challenges that face people with mental health problems. We want to hire individuals that are passionate about mental health, take a compassionate approach to care, who believe in our recovery model and who will act as advocates for the reduction of stigma in the wider community.
