Job overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated Occupational Therapy Assistant to work as part of the Tamarind Centre occupational Therapy Department . Tamarind Centre is a male medium secure service providing care for service users with challenging behaviours and a range of clinical presentations.
You would be working with the Occupational Therapy team to deliver one to one interventions as well as in group work and will require practical and creative skills in order to promote independence and to improve overall emotional wellbeing.
Therapeutic interventions are supported by a well-equipped environment which includes a gym, kitchen, education suite, art room, gardens, woodwork shop, library, and group rooms. We have our own forensic community OT team and partnerships that support transitions out into the community.

 

Main duties of the job

You will be supported by the ward Occupational Therapist and will receive regular management supervision and clinical supervision. Training and development will be provided in line with discussed development reviews.
We would require someone to have NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification and a good understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy / provision of activities within a mental health setting.
Overall we are looking for a motivated and confident member of staff who wants to work within a recovery and person centred model.
