Job overview

Do you want to be part of an innovative, dynamic organisation that is committed to delivering the best care by the best people? We are looking to appoint people who are as passionate about high quality care as we are.

We are looking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to the Zinnia Community Mental Health Transformation Team (working alongside 6 other Consultant Psychiatrists at this hub), based in the East of the city, which covers a registered GP working adult population. The post holder will provide clinical leadership to a Community Mental Health Team as per the job description of a consultant psychiatrist in Transformed community mental health service and lead alongside the Team Manager and Multidisciplinary Team to achieve staff and service developments and meet key trust targets.

This post will attract 7 Programmed Activities per week with 5.75 PAs for direct clinical care and up to 1.25 PAs for supporting professional activity. There is a Senior on-call rota which is remunerated at 3%.

For any enquiries please contact Clinical Director for CMHTs  [email protected]

Main duties of the job

As part of our journey towards implementation of the NHS England community transformation programme, the post holder will provide medical leadership, in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team, to redesign and reorganise the core CMHT function at Zinnia Centre to become a place-based multidisciplinary service across health and social care aligned to primary care and voluntary sectors.

As a senior leader, the post holder will need to support and engage effectively with a larger multidisciplinary team and range of professionals.  The post holder will need to adopt a population health approach as well as enhance and embed relationships with primary care and the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector.  The role will become more consultative and supervisory of the wider team, supporting other members to work in line with their competencies and with an emphasis on shared clinical responsibility across the team.

Working for our organisation

Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.  Our 4000 clinical and support staff help us to improve mental health wellbeing and meet the needs of the 70,000 people we serve each year.  We provide a range of mental healthcare services across Birmingham and Solihull, as well as specialised services nationally. We also offer medical, nursing and psychology training and are proud of our international reputation for both research and innovation.

Our population is culturally diverse, characterised in places by high levels of deprivation which create an increasing demand for our services and a necessity for us to make sure everyone can access the help they need. We are a team of compassionate, inclusive and committed people working together to provide excellent care to support our community.  If you are looking for a place to belong, where you can make a real difference to people’s lives, join our team where our warm welcome is waiting for you.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post offers excellent CPD and study leave arrangements as well as good research and service development opportunities.

We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible candidates who demonstrate leadership abilities and are committed to working in a multidisciplinary setting.

The candidate should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
