Occupational Therapy Support Worker

NHS AfC: Band 4

Job overview

Occupational Therapy focusses on engaging our children and young people in activity that will contribute towards wellness and recovery. We are seeking people with experience of instilling Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning, Purpose and Empowerment in our young people through 1:1 or group activities.

 Occupational Therapy Assistants work under the supervision of our advanced and specialist Occupational Therapy team to use their personal skills and personality for therapeutic benefit.

When asking our young people what they wanted from an OT service they told us they wanted to be supported by someone with;

  • compassion and patience
  • someone who will celebrate the little wins as well as the big ones and understand that patience is important
  • Friendliness and willingness to help
  • An encouraging approach
  • With flexibility, one who is able to take different routes and suggest different ideas and paths to ensure progress in a safe, collaborative way
  • An enthusiastic mentality, good at staying positive
  • Skills that can help us with meaningful goals rather than goals that we "should" be reaching
  • Creative ideas
  • Relevant knowledge, clued up on a lot of diverse activities in the community
  • The ability to be reliable and consistent in challenging the patient to progress in a non-confrontational way

If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you!

Main duties of the job
