Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust (BWC) are the Lead Provider of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC). - bringing together integrated provision of specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability and autism services, for young people aged 13-18.

 The West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative [WMCPC] Commissioning Hub hosted by Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Trust are looking for an Associate Director of Performance to join our experienced team and help shape the future strategy for CYPMH. This is an outstanding opportunity for an innovative and exceptional leader to deliver against a substantial Commissioning and [Re] Investment plan.

 You will provide the strategic oversight and leadership for the WMCPC Contracting and Data, Finance, Commissioning and Performance function of the team supporting the Director of the WMCPC to ensure that there is a transparent and effective, prioritised work programme delivered to agreed timelines, to support the WMCPC transformation and improvement agenda. The role will use the commissioning cycle and data to develop a robust approach to all stages for both existing and any new services and maintain the rigorous technical management of the current contracting and finance arrangements.

The role will drive the strategic performance of the contracting, finance and commissioning function, having the most  senior responsibility for working in partnership with all IC systems to ensure we shape together the successful delivery of the WMCPC

 WMCPC’s Associate Director of Performance is a key leadership role, carrying organisational and functional responsibility for leading and driving forward the implementation of the transformation programme on behalf for the WMCPC partnership.

 This is a very exciting opportunity to work across the West Midlands with respected and inspirational partners to make changes that deliver outstanding services and improved outcomes for children and young people.

  • Education to Master’s degree level or equivalent by experience
  • Evidence of senior management experience either in a finance function or contracting and income management function within the NHS
  • Formal management qualification and/or proven significant leadership experience

Knowledge and Nature of Experience

  • Extensive specialist knowledge of NHS Finance & Commissioning processes and/or experience of operating within a finance and commissioning environment
  • Experience of working within a Lead Provider organisation or significant knowledge and understanding of how Lead provider organisations operate.
  • Able to cope positively and resiliently with uncertainty, challenge and critical scrutiny.
  • Sound understanding of the key drivers of financial and non-financial performance of NHS commissioners and provider organisations and the financial regime for provider organisations
  • Excellent understanding of the Provider Collaborative and wider NHS performance agenda
  • Expertise in delivering and sustaining performance improvement within an NHS organisation
  • Excellent understanding of the power of information and data in driving service change and improvement
  • Understanding of organisational risk management and mitigation
  • Sound understanding of NHS Contracting processes and frameworks
  • Experience of implementing performance dashboards in large complex organisations and across systems
  • Extensive experience of supporting and developing staff members, some of whom will be professionals in their field in the approaches and implementation of strategic and operational performance management
  • Detailed knowledge of managing portfolios, programmes and projects.
  • Experience of strategic planning, decision making and implementing change (including organisational and service change)
