Are you a passionate and experienced Senior Midwifery Leader seeking a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of Maternity, Neonatal and Gynaecology and Fertility services? Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as Director of Midwifery to lead our services at our Women’s Hospital.
This is a key leadership position focused on delivering outstanding Midwifery and Nursing care across our Perinatal, Gynaecology and Fertility services and driving the highest standards of care for women, birthing people and their babies. You will lead on the professional, strategic, and clinical development of the midwifery and nursing workforce, ensuring services are safe, personalised, and aligned with nationally recognised best practice.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered midwife with the NMC
- Educated to Masters Level in a healthcare related subject
- Evidence of on-going Continuing Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Holds a recognised management or leadership qualification
Knowledge / Experience
Essential criteria
- A track record of successfully leading a midwifery service in a complex organization
- Evidence of implementing significant organisational change
- Knowledge of health and social care structures and policy at national, regional and local level
- Evidence of strong and positive leadership behaviours
- Evidence of working across boundaries, influencing and developing staff and working with multiple stakeholders
- Proven experience in the implementation of corporate and professional strategies
- Proven experience in the implementation and monitoring of quality tools
- Demonstrable experience of improving patient experience and patient safety
Desirable criteria
- Experience developed in a Head of midwifery role that recognises highly developed and complex levels of knowledge, to inform in-depth responses to complicated and unpredictable problems and situations
- Senior safeguarding leadership experience
Professional / Managerial / Specialist Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of resource management
- Evidence of delivery of audit and research based nursing/midwifery practice
Personal Skills / Abilities and Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to work in a climate of rapid change and uncertainty
