Applicants are invited for a 12 months Advanced Paediatric Neuro Critical Care Fellowship at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust commencing in September 2025.
This programme is designed to enhance a critical care knowledge and skills for dedicated paediatric critical care doctors or adults intensivists wishing to work in a neurocritical care unit, a mixed paediatric intensive care or an adult critical care unit with interest in paediatric neurocritical care. Each fellow will be actively involved in clinical training within the broader critical care environment with a greater focus on neurocritical care. Fellows will be expected to develop leadership role in the design of patient management guidelines and protocols in paediatric neurocritical care.
Main duties of the job
k The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated education supervisor who will set a personal development plan based on the candidate’s training background.
There will be regular assessments, which will include annual Multisource feedback. The candidate is expected to acquire the capabilities to match the objectives within the 12 months WTE fellowship programme, however, there may be extension of the fellowship period to allow the candidate to gain these capabilities.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent Postgraduate: MRCPCH or FRCA or equivalent
- GMC registered/licensed (if not GMC registered, MUST have OET/IELTS scores for GMC registration + EPIC verification of certificate)
- APLS provider or instructor or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- ETC course
- SPRINT Course
- Train the Trainer course
- Cranial ultrasound
- POCUS Certified
Experience & Skills
Essential criteria
- Completed 2 years of UK PICM GRID training or 2 years of PICM training from an established PICM training program similar to UK GRID or Experienced PIC/ANAESTHETIC trainees with signed off equivalence to PICM Grid training . Or Completed Paediatric Cardiology Training (UK GRID or equivalent

Desirable criteria
- Trauma experience
- Management experience
- Rota coordinator experience
- Core fellow for Chronic PICU patient
- Experience in Epilepsy/ Neurology
- Experience in Neurophysiology / neuroradiology
