Junior Sister / Charge Nurse

We are looking for motivated and experienced Paediatric Intensive Care (PIC) nurses to join our Band 6 team.  You must be on part one of the NMC register (adult or children); have completed a Specialist Intensive Care Course and a mentoring course, with consolidation of both. We welcome nurses with experience of CVVH, ECMO and neonates.  A full commitment to staff development and supporting others is a requirement, as well as evidence of excellent leadership.

  • To work as a Team Leader in the management of a group of patients, demonstrating excellent leadership and team building strategies, managing staffing levels and skill mix for a defined group of patients to meet service demands.
  • To participate in the Performance Management process and personal development planning of staff, in consultation with the manager/Education Team
  • In the care of critically ill children level 2 or 3: To provide 1:2 or 1:3 supervision for supernumerary staff over a span of duty and take responsibility for care delivered, in support of maximising bed availability, staff development and safety.
  • To co-operate fully with development programmes and take responsibility for personal development including mandatory training.
