An opportunity has arisen at the BWC NHS Foundation Trust for a self-motivated and confident individual to join our friendly pharmacy team who provide a range of pharmaceutical services both internally and externally. It is an exciting time to be joining the Trust as we are currently ready to Go Live with our new EPR in May 2025.
Applicants must be registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the Pharmacy Parenteral Nutrition (PN) service ensuring that PN is supplied safely and accurately in a timely manner. You will be required to undertake a broad range of duties and full on the job training will be provided. The post holder will work alongside the Pharmacy PN team; including Senior Pharmacist-PN.

Main duties of the job
Main duties
You will be part of a team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focused service.
The Pharmacy technician role involves:
*Dispensing for inpatients and out-patients
*Ordering, checking, and assembling of bespoke and standard PN bags
*Preparing home parenteral nutrition (HPN) prescriptions
*Stock control management
*Answering telephones queries
*Supporting the training and supervision of new starters and other support staff
*Undertaking regular audits
*Participating in late nights, weekends, and bank holidays
The required candidates must have excellent organisational and time management skills as they will be responsible for a variety of activities within the area. They will need to have good attention to detail and be happy working flexibly within a team.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services and BTEC (or equivalent)
- Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
- Accuracy Checking Technician Award
KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of data protection and patient/staff confidentiality
- A clear concept of the developing role of the Pharmacy Technician
- Understanding Patient’s needs, enabling the delivery of a safe and effective service.
- Current experience of working as a Pharmacy Technician or Student Pharmacy Technician within the hospital, community or CCG sector
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
- Experience of training on new systems
- Experience or knowledge of Hospital electronic prescribing systems
ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS
