LOCUM SPECIALTY DOCTOR IN HAEMATOLOGY
FIXED TERM PSOT TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE FOR 12 MONTHS
Applications are invited for this post, to be part of a dedicated team to help in the management of patients with a wide variety of haematological disorders
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will form part of a multi professional team providing clinical and laboratory Haematology services to the trust. The haemato-oncology service works to level 2b serving a huge diverse population seeing a variety of haemato-oncological disorders as well as running a variety of research trials in haemato-oncology and sickle cell disease.
The appointee will be given an opportunity to train and participate in the regional training programme and will be encouraged to undertake continuing medical education.

Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens in 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the base of this role may change to MMUH from 2024 (or beyond). If this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continuing your application with this understanding. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post is whole time (10 sessions) with the possibility of on-call commitment.
The post will be based at City hospital but we are excited to be moving into our brand new hospital called Midland Metropolitan University Hospital in 2024.
Applicants must have extensive experience at CT level and possess Full GMC registration. Previous experience in Haematology and possession of a postgraduate qualification is desirable but not essential.
Sandwell & West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust comprises of two associate teaching hospitals with many opportunities for medical teaching and training on both sites. Medical Education Centres provide excellent facilities, state of the art equipment and Clinical Skills Laboratory. The Clinical Library has 24-hour access for medical staff with full IT facilities including Internet access.

Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- • MBBS
Desirable criteria
- • A post-graduate qualification (eg MRCP or MRCpath)
Clinical Experience:
Essential criteria
- • Extensive experience at SHO or higher grade or equivalent.
- • Trained in recognised SHO posts
Desirable criteria
- • Experience in Haematology
Clinical Effectiveness
Essential criteria
- • Experience of conducting clinical audit
Teaching and Training experience:
Essential criteria
- • Ability to teach clinical skills to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines.
Other Requirements:
Essential criteria
- • Full GMC Registration
Desirable criteria
- Able to perform bone marrow biopsies
