The physiotherapy department is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialist physiotherapist for this exciting role to lead the musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy service and support the development of MSK services and physiotherapy within the Trust.  This will include management of outpatient services provided both at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital College Green site and in community clinics.  Alongside working as a physiotherapy team leader the successful candidate will split their time with working in the research team. They will support the delivery of Therapies research trials within the Trust and have the opportunity to develop their own research interests and projects.  The role will also involve championing research within the Therapy services team, proving support to staff and driving a research culture to improve patient care and service delivery.

The post holder will be committed to providing an effective and efficient service for patients requiring musculoskeletal out-patient physiotherapy treatment.   This role will combine clinical work with the management of the department and research duties. 

Staff development is positively encouraged at undergraduate, post-graduate and research levels and supported by regular in-service training.  Clinical support and development is available from a large APP team. 

Main duties of the job

This is a split post working within both the physiotherapy and research departments.

As a physiotherapy team leader the post holder will be responsible for the daily running of the department,  support of a team of physiotherapists  and the development of the service and department.

The individual will work within the research department to support the delivery of Therapy Services research trials.  They will be expected to keep the wider therapies team updated on these trials as well as supporting other staff with research interests and driving a research culture within the team.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Bsc Degree / Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Validated Courses

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience as a Chartered Physiotherapist working in Outpatient MSK services
  • Experience of orthopaedic surgical procedures and rehabilitation
  • Experience of staff and student supervision
  • Proven teaching ability

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of research knowledge and enthusiasm
  • Knowledge of Clinical Audit and evidence based practice
  • Evidence of self directed CPD
