Research Study Coordinator

The post holder will be a member of the R&D research team and be responsible for supporting the Director of R&D, the R&D Manager, Research Nurses and other research staff.  

The role will require the post holder to liaise with all Research Staff, Clinicians, health professionals and clerical staff across the trust, and be responsible for providing data management and administrative support, as needed for clinical trials.

 

We are looking for someone with research experience to join our team and share new ideas and contribute to the current research plan here at the ROH.

  1. To supply data as required to the Senior Research Nurse regarding progress of clinical trials.

 

  1. To be responsible for monitoring trial progression, recruitment figures and pathway status of study participants, and to highlight any problems to the study team, lead research nurse and PI.

 

  1. To collect and collate data for the purpose of creating reports for the attention of the PI and the study team.

 

  1. To schedule and lead monthly meetings between the study team, where study activity can be reviewed.

 

  1. To attend study management meetings where relevant with the sponsor, or staff members involved in the study.

 

  1. To review external trial protocols to assess feasibility from a trial management point of view, and to identify resource implications for the site.

 

  1. To be the main contact for Clinical Trial Units regarding queries and for checking and resolving queries

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  1. To undertake an annual appraisal (internal performance review) to identify organisational and professional objectives and development needs.

5.     To take responsibility for the line management of data managers in the research team and to act as a resource to ensure that they optimise their research skills and potential.

 

6.     To act as a resource and role model for members of the research data management team

 

7.     To distribute workload between the data managers supporting the research projects for which the post holder is lead.

 

8.     To be responsible for the co-ordination of annual and all other leave for data managers in the research team, ensuring minimal disruption to the service provided by this team.

 

9.     To promote a safe working environment.

 

 

10.  Able to review and reprioritise workload independently in line with unplanned changes and priorities.

 

11. To act independently while adhering to relevant occupational standards, determining when to seek manager advice.

 

12. Exposure to upsetting or stressful situations is rare due to the limited contact with patients.

 

13. The role will be office base and Visual display usage will be required daily for long periods.

COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

1. To communicate effectively with all disciplines of staff involved in the research study

2. Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and professionals to ensure service delivery.

3. To deal sensitively and in a professional manner on the telephone

4. To coordinate distribution of quality of life questionnaires to patients This will involve communicating and dealing with patients

5. To liaise with outside research agencies such Clinical Trial Units, Medical Research Council

 

 

ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT Responsibilities

 

1.     Contribute to study set-up and attend logistical meetings to discuss the research study and how it will run within the department.

 

2.     Take an active approach to running studies to time and target.

 

3.     Be confident to screen hospital systems to identify potential eligible patients.

 

4.     Discuss logistic issues with study team and wider department to ensure studies are working well and according to protocols.

 

PLANNING AND ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS

 

 

1.     Be responsible for the planning of patient visits and pathways ensuring study windows are adhered too.

 

2.     Help plan and organise promotional days within the trust.

 

3.     Take an active part during departmental meetings.
