An exciting opportunity has arisen for Junior tobacco dependency advisors to join our Birmingham and Solihull Mental health Trust's Physical Health Support team. We have 1x full time position (37.5 hours) and 1x Part time (22.5 hours) available for this role. The Junior TDA's will provide 1-1 support for patients and staff who want to attempt to quit smoking, or abstain from smoking while on Trust's sites. The post holders will be based at Newbridge House but there is a requirement to work across all of the Trust's sites across Birmingham and Solihull. Please note that we are spread across Birmingham and Solihull, hence significant amount of travelling is involved.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The principal role of the post holders will be to work with the Trust’s Tobacco Dependency Service team and Tobacco Dependency Project Lead to provide behavioural support and treatment in relation to tobacco smoking. They will provide support in a range of settings as required for the delivery of Tobacco Dependency Service. They will organise their own workload and work unsupervised within a busy team. They will prioritise own workload according to the needs of the service, individual needs including equality, diversity, and social inclusion in all aspects of work. A key feature of the post will be to work with service users during their inpatient stay to engage them with an appropriate tobacco dependency plan and support these individuals after discharge or ensure smooth transition to Tobacco Dependency services where appropriate. They will identify and engage with individuals and groups from target areas. They will support individuals to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing. They will support the  recording and reporting activities and results contributing to achieving all performance indicators, essential standards, and quality outcomes.  They will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity.

Experience

  • Experience of working within a mental health setting or with people with mental health conditions or Learning Disabilities. Evidence of previous team working.
  • Understanding of the drivers of ill health and mental health.

  • Experience working with people in a behaviour change context.
  • Experience of running groups
