Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) to join the Community MSK Assessment & Physiotherapy Service (CMAPS).  

The successful candidate will provide expert musculoskeletal assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with complex MSK presentations and will utilise diagnostics where clinically appropriate, such as X-ray, MRI, USS, interventional radiology, neurophysiological tests and bloods. We also have excellent links with Consultants in secondary care in addition to our local Dudley GP’s. 

You will be part of a skilled team which includes Clinical and Operational leadership, APP's through to B4 physiotherapy support worker, administrators, and secretaries. You will play a key part in supporting the development of junior colleagues within the team. The service is currently developing its rehabilitation strategy, focusing on goal orientated outcomes alongside offering an excellent patient experience.  

There are excellent CPD opportunities in a friendly and supportive environment. Successful applicants will have substantial post graduate experience of working in musculoskeletal specialties; will have excellent leadership skills, a positive attitude and excellent communication skills and be able to commute to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications

  • BSc/Diploma/MSc pre-registration physiotherapy
  • Evidence of continuous professional development via relevant post-graduate courses
  • Msc qualification in clinical speciality, or equivalent experience, preferably with an Advanced Practice component

  • Injection therapy qualification
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Certificate/evidence in course of leadership development
  • Computer literacy course or evidence of competent IT skills

Experience

  • Experience in requesting & interpreting diagnostic tests
  • Experience in managing service users with complex MSK conditions such as pain management, existing long-term conditions & multiple co-morbidities & pathologies
  • Experience in having speed of thought to quickly identify & escalate referrals with regards to patients presenting with non MSK issues
  • To be up to date & implement Evidence Based Practice, appropriate guidelines & National & Local audits
  • Experience in the identification and management of suspected sinister pathology including knowledge of appropriate national guidance
  • Experience with triaging referrals in Primary care and Community Services and the ability to make rapid & accurate decisions to improve patient pathway & care
  • Experience of leading a department regarding clinic management but also with operational duties when required i.e. managing absence, recognising & improving performance & managing leave
  • Experience in service development, quality improvements and redesign to improve service user experience
  • Experience in managing patients highlighted by colleagues that require higher level of Advanced Specialist Skill
