Job overview

This is an exciting time to be joining the Endoscopy Unit at the Dudley Group of Hospitals. We have a JAG accredited Endoscopy Unit which has recently undergone expansion and now includes 5 endoscopy procedure rooms, with a separate room in radiology for Fluroscopy assisted procedures. We are further expanding into a Community Diagnostics Centre based at the Corbett Hospital site where we will be undertaking diagnostics and additional services such as cytosponge and Trans-nasal Endoscopy.

We are now advertising for a Clinical Support Worker, Band 2 to support the set up our community diagnostics services.

The successful applicant will be working closely along side the Endoscopy Nursing Team, Endoscopists, & the Decontamination Team, ensuring our patients receive a high quality of safe, compassionate, effective care during their Endoscopy Journey. As part of the Team, you will help to maintain the JAG Gold Standards for Endoscopy Services, & retain our annual Accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Support Worker will work together with members of the Nursing team and contribute to the implementation of a high standard and individualised patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

The post holder will be required to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team, patients and relatives and must be able to recognise and report to the appropriate person any changes in the patient’s condition which may require the intervention of others.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • English and Maths Qualifications at one of the following academic levels/grades:- O Level - Grade A to C CSE Grade 1 only GCSE Grade A to C GCSE Grade 9 to 4 Functional skills Level 2
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health Care
  • Care Certificate

Knowledge & Training

Essential criteria
  • Reception/telephone skills
  • Demonstrates a caring attitude to patient care
  • Demonstrates respect for patient dignity
  • Demonstrates knowledge of duties required as a Clinical Support Worker
  • Willingness to undertake NVQ Level 2 in Healthcare, as appropriate
Desirable criteria
  • computer literate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of caring for people in a care worker role within hospital, community or Residential Nursing Home setting
  • Experience of customer care/dealing with the public

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of confidentiality
  • Honest and trustworthy
  • Ability to work as part of team
