Job overview

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is a part of the Black Country Alliance Procurement Partnership which also includes Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. The Trusts are sharing category management responsibilities across the organisation with a view to driving down cost and improving service delivery. This is an exciting time to join The Dudley Group and ideally, we are looking for a candidate who wants to learn new skills and develop over time.

The role includes the purchase of goods and services on behalf of the Trust and at all times endeavour to achieve best value in accordance with the Procurement Department’s agreed procurement procedures and policies and the Trusts Procurement Strategy. In carrying out these tasks a purchasing & contracts officer must use a number of computer applications, act on their own initiative, be flexible in approach to their duties and advise all users on the optimum supply route for their requirements. Deputise for the Head of Operational Procurement as applicable.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • European Computer Driving Licence or Equivalent
  • Possess Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply - Level 3 or relevant NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent business qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Possess or be studying for the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Diploma in Procurement and Supply - Level 4 or relevant NVQ or equivalent business qualification
  • College educated

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Be numerate and have a goof general level of education
  • An ability to follow procedures and manuals
  • Able to fulfil the requirements of the role
  • Be familiar with spreadhseet and word processing software i.e. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of CIPS Professional Code of Ethics
  • Familiar with Microsoft Access and PowerPoint or equivalents

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of working in a busy Procurement / Supply / Finacne office
  • Supervisory Experience
Desirable criteria
  • Significant Healthcare Purchasing / Contracting experience
  • Contract Management expertise and knowledge of contract management systems including E-Commerce processes
  • Project work experience
  • Worked with purchase order systems and be familiar with e-commerce processes
  • Customer Service experience
  • Eager to develop and enjoys working with new technologies
