Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 physiotherapist to join our highly motivated and successful Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team.  

Dudley's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team is made up of nurses, physiotherapists and therapy assistants and delivers quality pulmonary rehabilitation from four different venues across the Dudley borough and within patient’s homes.

This band 5 role is a newly created post and provides a great opportunity for an enthusiastic band 5 physiotherapist with a special interest in respiratory care to learn more about chronic respiratory disease management and pulmonary rehabilitation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside other members of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team to deliver Pulmonary Rehabilitation to patients suffering with Chronic Respiratory Disease.  

The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the development of an expanding service by demonstrating a commitment, enthusiasm and passion for the delivery of high quality, patient focused care. 

The role of the band 5 will be to assist with Pulmonary Rehabilitation assessments and support the running of classes to include the delivery of some patient education sessions.  

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary as the post holder will be expected to liaise and work closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals from both primary and secondary care environments. 

 The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multi- disciplinary team is necessary to ensure seamless, comprehensive care is provided for patients in various settings throughout the Dudley borough.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma/MSc Pre Reg in Physiotherapy
  • If a student, must be in the final 6 months of course
  • Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registration

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of theoretical knowledge and continuous professional development
  • Knowledge of the wider Multi-disciplinary team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience working with patients with Chronic Respiratory Disease
  • Knowledge across the range of Physiotherapy practices in acute and community sectors

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant undergraduate experience or sound knowledge base and ability to adapt to Pulmonary Rehabilitation setting
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of relevant national and local guidelines
