CNS - Rheumatology
NHS AfC: Band 6
Job overview
This is an exciting time for Rheumatology and the collaboration between the Black Country Alliance may bring future developments to the service. An opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to a Rheumatology CNS Band 6 post.
The post holder will undertake an in-house training programme to achieve clinical skills and knowledge competencies. Although we can be flexible with working times, clinical activity must be covered.
We are happy for applicants to apply with little or no Rheumatology experience, however, in this scenario, the post will initially be a Band 5 training post until competencies are successfully completed.
Main duties of the job
Once in-house training programme completed & competencies achieved the post holder will be able to:
-
Assist in the development of expert nursing practice within Rheumatology, providing & encouraging high standards of evidenced based nursing care to our patients
-
Provide professional advice & leadership to other professionals, MDT, patients & their carers
-
Assist Matron/Senior Trust staff in maintaining & enhancing professional standards of care across the spectrum of Rheumatology services, to ensure the DH agendas are taken forward & specific service objectives are developed
-
Act as a resource for education & research
-
Run independent Nurse led clinics initially within the Trust but may be involved in Community clinics in the future
-
Be involved with the CNS telephone helpline which has positive feedback. The team wants to be able to keep up the high demand (40-60 calls a day) for this service which often avoids patients having to attend the acute Trust

These include our Managers Essentials Programme and a Leadership Programme that all managers will attend as part of your Dudley Managers Induction.
