Communication  

• Facilitate safe and effective multi-professional communication and information sharing appropriately across a range of settings and agencies, including paediatric liaison. 
• Ensure that the exchange and effective dissemination of confidential information is safely shared in accordance with legislation, guidance and local policy.  
• To represent as necessary the service at relevant meetings, groups and committees
• Utilise and promote the use of IT systems – Electronic Patient Records/ Microsoft Word/ Microsoft Excel/ NHS mail etc. daily. 
• Effectively manage patient information and analyse data from a clinical perspective.

Operational

• In conjunction with the Multidisciplinary Team, ensure that information provided to health professionals and patients/parents/carers are representative of research based recommendations.  
• To develop appropriate information systems and ensure documentation systems are in place to assist in the delivery of a high standard of care.  

• To support the delivery of the Safeguarding training programme to all staff across the Trust in partnership with the Named Nurses.   

• Deliver informal and formal educational initiative for staff.

• Provide specialist professional safeguarding children advice and effective supervision for a range of professionals and staff across the Trust.  

• To review all paediatric attendances to the Emergency Department, ensuring appropriate and timely action/referrals have taken place and escalating to the Named Nurse Safeguarding Children and the Emergency Department Matron/Lead Nurse if Trust process has not been adhered to.  

• To ensure safeguarding information from the Emergency Department is disseminated to the appropriate community health professional. 

·         Take a proactive role to promote and embed effective safeguarding practice, systems and process within the Trust.  

• To ensure all staff have access to appropriate support and supervision mechanisms, which will enhance learning.   
• To support the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to provide complex written communication in the form of action plans, reports, presentations, policies and procedures. 

• To act as a specialist practitioner for Safeguarding Children and Paediatric Liaison Service, to discuss, advise and negotiate with the Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children to inform service development.  

• To undertake regular review and audits as required. 

Personal 

• To keep up to date with clinical, professional, managerial developments and relevant NHS initiatives.  

• Maintain a personal professional profile.  

• To be familiar with and comply with all statutory regulations and Trust Policies.  

• To provide a positive image of the Trust.  

• To maintain and develop own knowledge and expertise in current developments and future trends in relation to Child Protection management and practice, including the Trust’s Strategy for Nursing & Midwifery and Scope of Professional Practice.   

• To receive safeguarding supervision in order to continuously improve the quality of service delivered, promote best practice and enhance personal and professional well-being.  

• To be familiar with and comply with Trust Policies to include; 

·         Safeguarding Adults and Children 

·         Infection Control 

·         Health and Safety at Work 

·         Fire 

·         Disciplinary Procedure 

• To attend mandatory training as per individual Training Needs Analysis.  

• To maintain current registration with the NMC and to comply with standards set by them, including NMC Midwives Rules and Code of Practice.
