Job overview

The Head of CMO Portfolios will work closely with the Chief Medical Officers (CMO), Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Associate Chief Medical Officers and Clinical Leads to deliver a range of key outcomes, including management of all business functions required of the CMO Office, as well as project/programme management within high priority areas including the Trust Learning from Deaths agenda, Health Inequalities and Clinical Productivity. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to make independent decisions, working autonomously and using their own initiative on a wide range of conflicting and complex issues, prioritise and meet challenging and often urgent deadlines and schedules on behalf of the CMO and Deputy CMO

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of Master’s degree level qualification and / or experience
  • PRINCE2 and/or Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) or relevant project mangement experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of project and Programme Management; internal, external and across organisational, place and system boundaries
  • Line Management experience of managing and supervising staff
  • Experience of Leading major re-design or change management initiatives
  • Excellent IT skills - report writing skills
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of budget management and the financial flows in NHS
  • Substantial in-depth experience and knowledge of health service management
  • Previous operational managerial experience preferably within a clinical directorate in the NHS
