Our Shared Services team based in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton and we are currently working from both home and the office.

Experience with NHS Payroll and Payroll systems would be beneficial.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated System Support officer/experienced individual with payroll systems knowledge looking to progress their career in the NHS.

Main duties of the job

This role requires previous pension experience.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Support Systems Officer/experience payroll systems individual to join the Employee Services team to support our payroll shared services for clients across the Black Country and beyond, processing circa. 45,500 employees.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the  Payroll systems. It would be desirable if the successful candidate could demonstrate proficiency in Agenda for Change and Medical & Dental terms and conditions and other legislation covering the field.

The post holder will be responsible for managing and efficiently implementing systems and other projects across the whole of Employee Services Department using knowledge of Employee Services procedures and system functionality and thus operates with some degree of autonomy in the performance of duties.

The successful candidate will be dealing with  the role of Systems support and will enact changes to systems as required across the whole of Employee Services including the introduction of new systems which have an Employee Services impact.

In Summary the main responsibilities are:
To manage y implementing systems and other projects across the whole of Employee Services Department using knowledge of Employee Services procedures and system functionality and thus operates with some degree of autonomy in the performance of duties.

To be able to work independently or as part of a team and responsible for providing an accurate, timely payroll service.

The post holder is responsible for maintaining accurate Pension records for all members of the NHS Pension Scheme employed by the Trust. To provide information and advice in a timely manner to employees, manager and or executive. 

Performs the role of Systems support and will enact changes to systems as required across the whole of Employee Services including the introduction of new systems which have an Employee Services impact.

Required to implement, interpret and operate all Employee Services systems in a timely manner as required by the Employee Services Team Leaders. To ensure that these systems meet all legal requirements from Statutory Bodies to ensure compliance by the Trust.

The Post Holder will train staff in the use of new systems and systems changes.

The Employee Services team processes a combined payroll for around 45,000 employees.  This must be paid in line with both local and national policy and within the strict payroll processing deadlines that exist.  The team has contact with staff every day in connection with queries regarding payments and these are dealt with promptly and professionally.

The work of the team impacts on every single employee within the Trusts and good customer service is key to their success.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of Payroll Systems
  • Significant Experience and Knowledge of HMRC Statutory Regulations, Pension, RTI and Auto Enrolment.
  • Experience of NHS payroll systems implementation
  • Significant experience of Microsoft office including extensive excel skills
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of NHS Payroll Systems
  • Knowledge of Experience and Knowledge of AFC, Medical & Dental Contract, HMRC Statutory Regulations, NHS Pension, RTI and Auto Enrolment.
  • Experience of payroll systems implementation
  • Experience of Microsoft office including excel skills

Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's
  • NVQ level 3 plus training, skills and experience to diploma level or equivalent.
  • ECDL
Desirable criteria
  • Specialist knowledge of NHS payroll
