The Estates Maintenance Team has a vacancy for a Shift Associate based at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The successful applicant will carry out day-to-day maintenance and assist Shift Engineers with their reactive and PPM tasks.

You will work in all areas of the hospital -  workshops, plant rooms, service ducts and equipment enclosures, as well as wards, theatres and laboratories. You will need to hold a current driving licence.

We are recruiting for 3 month fixed term post, with potential for this to be extended.

Main duties of the job

Your role will include:

  • To assist the band 4 shift engineers on PPM’s and reactive works outside of core hours.
  • Support the team leader to ensure efficient and safe working of all plant on site.
  • Carry out planned preventative visual inspections as allocated by the estates maintenance system.
  • Carry out reactive work following calls from the clinical staff.

Essential criteria
  • Good all round knowledge of building services
  • Able to use appropriate tools and test equipment
  • A current driving licence & willing to drive a Trust owned vehicle.
Desirable criteria
  • Skills to carry out multi-discipline tasks associated with the building industry

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Understanding and evidence of current Health and Safety legislation training relating to areas of work
  • Qualified to City and Guilds Level 2, Mechanical Maintenance NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • You will be a Part qualified craftsman

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to work across trade boundaries and provide flexible working attitudes
  • Have good customer skills, able to prioritise and programme work

  • Experience of working in Healthcare building maintenance environment or equivalent service environment
