Job overview

To provide an efficient and high-quality administrative support service to the ProActive Cancer Team, a team who provides a personalised prehabilitation and rehabilitation service for people affected by Cancer.  

Main duties of the job

Main roles and responsibilities is essentially supporting the AHP team consisting of Physiotherapists, Dietitians, Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapists administratively in a patient flow coordinator capacity arranging and booking outpatient appointments  The appointment will provide exercise interventions at the pre-op / post op stage of the patient’s pathway.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be expected to manage one B3 A&C staff member, coordinating day-to-day tasks to meet service key performance indicators by booking urgent new, routine patient appointments and follow ups, rescheduling appointments generally having a good awareness of patient flow. 

This role would suite an individual who possesses excellent communication skills as this is key to the role, someone who is articulate, helpful and confident as well as possessing a ‘can do’ attitude, someone who is always profession and courteous.

Education/Training/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Desirable criteria
  • RSA 1 & 11 typing

Work Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using window based software/excel/outlook.
  • Excellent at analysing problems, identifying solutions and proactive implementation
  • Experience of working at a junior supervisory level
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working closely with varying degree of seniority within the NHS.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good understanding of confidentiality and data protection.
  • Careflow, EDMS, ICE knowledge and understanding
  • Ability to manage own and team’s workload with interruptions, prioritising own / team workload including applying team targets and meeting strict deadlines
  • Ability and confidence to communicate verbally and in writing with members of the public, patients and all levels of staff within the organisation and externally

Personal Qualities/Special Circumstances

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of administration processes with the confidence and ability to set up/change administrative systems to bring up to date.
  • Ability to understand, manage and communicate data/reports.
  • Organised and systematic in approach to work.

  • Self-motivated and able to motivate and influence others.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to be assertive, tactful and diplomatic.
