Job overview
We are looking for a highly motivated experienced Theatre Practitioner to join our friendly team in Main Theatres at Weston General Hospital.
This role is suitable for a Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse.
* Anaesthetic experience is essential for this role *
Weston theatres is a small, friendly unit with a real passion for delivering the highest standards of care. We have 6 theatres; 2 in our Surgical Day Case Unit and 4 in our Main Theatre Unit.
We cover a wide range of specialities including general & colorectal surgery, breast surgery, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics and trauma.
We have a small but busy recovery unit and staff will be expected to cover this area during the week and at weekends. There is an expectation to work across Surgical Day Case Unit, Theatre Receiving Unit and our Surgical Day Case Ward, as and when required.
The working pattern you would be expected to fulfil will include a range of shifts as well as nights, weekends and to be part of the on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a member of staff with experience in anaesthetics.
Knowledge of the specialities our department covers is preferred.

Qualification and Training
Essential criteria
- NMC Registered Nurse OR Operating Department Practitioner/ Dip HE in Operating Room Practice
- Training Qualification or equivalent experience
- Mentorship Course
Desirable criteria
- Relevant post registration course
Public Sector Language Competency
Essential criteria
- Be able to speak fluent English to an appropriate standard
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Appropriate post registration experience in nursing and speciality
- Appropriate proven leadership and management experience
- Proven commitment and experience, evidence in teaching
- Experience as preceptor / mentor
- Anaesthetic experience
